Bio: Emily is the daughter of one of the most famous American astronauts of all time, General Dwayne Satterfield. He became famous as a shuttle pilot and then later became an even more famous shuttle commander. He went on more shuttle missions than anyone in history of the space program. Emily grew up with her father as her idol and her hero. She enjoyed spending time with him working on airplane engines and then learning how to fly. It was her dream to become a pilot and then enter into the space program and become a space shuttle pilot just like her father. She graduated from MIT top in her class and earned her PhD’s at a very young age. She has doctorates in Astronautics, Aeronautics, and Astrodynamics.
She was accepted into the NASA program and on her way to becoming a space shuttle pilot when a test result determined she had diabetes. This devastated her world because she could no longer be in the program. Her diabetes progressed rapidly and she ended up having to have a service dog to help her determine when her sugars were dropping too rapidly or raising too quickly. Eventually, even working in the R & D department at NASA became too difficult and she had to leave. This began a bidding war, of sorts, between Wayne Industries and LexCorps over her services. She met with both groups and even though LexCorps offered her more money and the title of Head of the R & D Department, she chose Wayne Industries because Lex Luthor ‘gave her the creeps’.
Once in Gotham, she met and eventually married Alex Norton. The pair decided to adopt children since the doctors ‘advised’ her not to birth children herself. Emily decided to adopt children who would be most unlikely to be adopted by other people. She wanted the unwanted. She made contact with Guardian Angels, an International Adoption Agency, and Forever Home Agency in the United States. Working with these two agencies, she and Alex adopted 14 children who otherwise would not have had homes and created a warm, loving, close-knit family.
