Judy abandons her family

Judy O’Neil, mother to Grace & Hope and wife to George, abandons her family in a swirl of complicated emotions and a fog of mental illness. She flees to Illinois, eventually winding up in Chicago, working as a volunteer in a hospital, where she meets Edward Patrick Franklin and his sister, Judith. At the time she left Gotham, Judy was unknowingly pregnant.
