Bio:  Once an elite member the British Intelligence under the name of Thaddeus Crane, Alfred Pennyworth “retired” from the spy business to go into service as a butler and housekeeper.  He did so as a way of honoring the last wish of his father, Jarvis Pennyworth, as as a way of keeping a long-standing family tradition.  In 1975, he becomes the butler to the Wayne family of Gotham City, in the United States.  When the Waynes are murdered in 1987, Alfred assumes guardianship of their son Bruce and continued to maintain the household.  He did so until 2008, when he was ‘gently convinced’ to retire.  In his retirement, he played grandfather to Bruce’s two children, as well as the other children living at Wayne Manor, tended a private garden surrounding his ‘garden cottage’ and kept two lovebirds, Pongo and Perdita.  At the end of 2008, he was reunited with a daughter, Meredith, he had never known.
